Việt là học sinh giỏi và rất thông minh. Cậu luôn có điểm số cao ở hầu hết các môn học và là người đứng đầu trong các kỳ thi. Tuy vậy tính của Việt tự cao và khó gần. Khi ra trường Việt được nhiều công ty mời chào nhưng kết quả của các cuộc phỏng vấn lại không khả quan. Đã bảy năm kể từ khi ra trường, Việt vẫn chưa làm được những gì cậu mong muốn.

Trái với Việt, thời còn đi học Hùng không phải là học sinh giỏi. Tuy nhiên với tính cách hòa đồng, hay quan tâm giúp đỡ người khác, cậu rất được bạn bè quý mến và tin yêu. Khi ra trường Hùng không có nhiều lời mời phỏng vấn như Việt nhưng kết quả cậu cũng đã tìm được một công việc yêu thích. Hiện tại, với vị trí trưởng phòng kinh doanh, được ban lãnh đạo công ty tin cậy, đồng nghiệp và khách hàng quý mến, Hùng đang có một tương lai sáng sủa.

Trong cuộc sống chúng ta gặp không ít những câu chuyện như vậy. Tại sao người ít thông minh lại thành công hơn người giỏi hơn mình. Có phải do họ may mắn, làm việc chăm chỉ, hay họ có những năng lực đặc biệt?

Thông Minh và Thông Minh Cảm Xúc

Trí thông minh (Intelligence) được đo bằng hệ số IQ - Intelligence Quotient. IQ đo lường khả năng trí lực, năng lực học hỏi, khả năng hiểu và xử lý tình huống, năng lực suy nghĩ logic, phản biện, sự nhạy bén trong suy nghĩ… Trí thông minh có thể được đo tổng quát trong mọi lĩnh vực, và được đo theo từng lĩnh vực cụ thể.

Thông minh cảm xúc (Emotional Intelligence) được đo bằng hệ số cảm xúc EQ - Emotional Quotient. EQ đo lường năng lực, khả năng hay kỹ năng của một người trong cảm nhận, đánh giá, và quản lý cảm xúc của bản thân, của người khác hay của một nhóm người.

Trong một thời gian dài người ta dùng chỉ số IQ để tìm kiếm người tài vì tin rằng người có IQ cao sẽ có xác suất thành công cao hơn người khác. Tuy vậy một số nghiên cứu khoa học lại cho thấy chỉ 25% số người thành công là có chỉ số IQ cao hơn trung bình. Nghĩa là chỉ số IQ không giải thích được sự thành công vượt trội của 75% số người còn lại. Kết quả nghiên cứu đã loại yếu tố về năng lực chuyên môn. Cuối cùng những người nghiên cứu khẳng định rằng chỉ số EQ mới là yếu tố quyết định sự thành công trong cuộc sống và công việc của mỗi chúng ta.

Năng Lực Cảm Xúc trong môi trường làm việc

Trong khi chỉ số thông minh ít khi thay đổi theo thời gian, thì chỉ số thông minh cảm xúc có thể được “học” và thay đổi vào bất cứ giai đoạn hay môi trường nào. Để thành công trong môi trường làm việc, ông Daniel Goleman - người được xem là nhà nghiên cứu hàng đầu về EQ hiện nay đã đề xuất chúng ta phải có những năng lực xúc cảm cá nhân gồm: năng lực tự nhận biết bản thân, năng lực tự điều chỉnh, năng lực tạo động lực; và những năng lực thông minh xúc cảm xã hội gồm: năng lực thấu cảm với người khác và năng lực giao tiếp xã hội.

Năng lực tự nhận biết cảm xúc bản thân giúp chúng ta biết rõ cảm xúc hiện tại của mình và giúp chúng ta nhận biết vai trò quan trọng của cảm xúc đối với kết quả công việc của mình. Biết tự đánh giá bản thân còn giúp chúng ta hiểu điểm mạnh, điểm yếu của mình, giúp chúng ta can đảm thể hiện những suy nghĩ chưa được chấp nhận, và dám một mình theo đuổi cái đúng. Trong khi đó năng lực tự điều chỉnh giúp chúng ta kềm giữ các cảm xúc bốc đồng của bản thân, giữ được sự bình tĩnh, lạc quan ngay cả trong những khoảnh khắc khó chịu nhất.

Đối với những người có năng lực tạo động lực, họ thường xem kết quả của công việc là thước đo cuối cùng cho sự thành bại. Chính vì thế họ luôn cố gắng phát triển bản thân và mong muốn vượt qua hay ít nhất đạt được những tiêu chuẩn hoàn hảo. Những cá nhân này luôn tìm thấy mục tiêu của bản thân trong mục tiêu của tập thể. Họ luôn chú ý đến giá trị, mục tiêu của tổ chức trước khi ra quyết định.

Bên cạnh một số năng lực kể trên, có những người còn có khả năng thấu cảm người khác. Họ có thể cảm nhận, dự đoán được cảm xúc và hoàn cảnh của người khác, có khả năng bày tỏ sự quan tâm của mình một cách chủ động đối với người khác. Hoặc cũng có người có năng lực phát triển người khác. Họ có năng lực cảm nhận được nhu cầu phát triển bản thân của người khác, sẵn sàng kèm cặp, hỗ trợ cho những người đó phát triển.

Nói đến năng lực giao tiếp xã hội của một người, chúng ta có thể kể đến năng lực truyền đạt thông tin, năng lực quản lý xung đột, năng lực lãnh đạo hay năng lực tạo sự thay đổi, năng lực hợp tác với người khác…

Người có năng lực quản lý sự xung đột có khả năng “xử lý” những tình huống căng thẳng một cách êm đẹp. Họ có khả năng thương thuyết và giải quyết những mối bất hòa, đưa ra giải pháp để hai bên cùng thắng. Trong khi đó người có năng lực lãnh đạo sẽ tạo cảm hứng cho mọi người làm việc, làm cho họ tin và hướng theo một tầm nhìn, một mục tiêu chung. Dù ở vị trí nào họ cũng sẵn sàng tiến lên để nhận lãnh trách nhiệm, họ tạo ảnh hưởng lên người khác bằng chính những hành động của mình. Còn người có năng lực hợp tác luôn tạo ra một môi trường làm việc vì mục đích chung, trong đó mọi người đều có cơ hội để phát triển.

Đọc những điều vừa kể chắc hẳn bạn cũng như tôi sẽ cảm nhận rằng những năng lực trên tuy nghe hết sức bình thường nhưng lại là những phẩm chất lý tưởng của mỗi cá nhân trong môi trường làm việc. Đó là những phẩm chất mà chúng ta mong muốn có cho bản thân mình cũng như cho sếp và đồng nghiệp. Đó cũng là chìa khóa mở cánh cửa thành công cho mọi người.

Dù ở độ tuổi nào, mỗi người đều có tiềm năng để phát triển những năng lực trên. Đừng quá ỷ lại vào trí thông minh, trình độ chuyên môn mà nên tập trung nhiều hơn đến việc phát triển chỉ số EQ, phát triển năng lực cảm xúc của bản thân trong môi trường làm việc. Từ từ chúng ta sẽ nhận biết, quản lý bản thân tốt hơn, hiểu biết và giao tiếp với người khác hiệu quả hơn, và chắc chắn sẽ gặt hái nhiều thành công hơn trong công việc và cuộc sống.

Control-Alt-Delete (often abbreviated to Ctrl-Alt-Del) is a computer keyboard command on PC compatible systems that can be used to reboot the computer, and summon the task manager or Windows Security in more recent versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system. It is invoked by pressing the Delete key while holding the Control and Alt keys.

This keyboard combination was implemented by David Bradley, a designer of the original IBM PC. Bradley originally designed Control-Alt-Escape to trigger a soft reboot, but he found it was too easy to bump the left side of the keyboard and reboot the computer accidentally. He switched the key combination to Control-Alt-Delete, a combination impossible to press with just one hand (this is not true of later keyboards, such as the 102-key PC/AT keyboard or the Maltron keyboard). More advanced operating systems use its status as a "reserved" combination for various purposes, but often retain the ability to trigger a soft reboot in certain configurations or circumstances. Bradley is also known for his good-natured jab at Bill Gates, at that time the CEO of Microsoft, and also the creator of many of Microsoft's programs: "I may have invented Control-Alt-Delete, but Bill Gates made it famous".
